F For: Hong Kong Protest Music Zine
Creative Project that Chronicles the 2019-2020 Hong Kong Democratic Movement.
A not-for-profit project that chronicles the 2019-2020 Hong Kong democratic movement through the music made throughout the protests. "F For: Hong Kong Protest Music Zine" started as an idea in October 2019 and quickly gained support from a diverse group of individuals, including journalists, authors, designers, translators, musicians, and animators, who, driven by their passion for music and a desire to contribute to the Hong Kong democracy movement, dedicated their spare time to its creation. The zine format was chosen to capture the spirit of the leaderless protest, emphasizing creativity and autonomy, and they used unconventional methods like illustrations and music content to depict the movement's complexity. With a limited print run of 500 to 1000 copies for the first edition, they are crowdfunding the project on Kickstarter, with all proceeds earmarked for production and distribution, aiming to ultimately make it available in independent bookstores worldwide, providing a unique perspective on Hong Kong's street movement through music.
