Ahmedjan Kasim (1996) was born in Urumchi, the capital of the Uighur region of Xinjiang in China. He fled to the Netherlands at the age of 15 to be reunited with his mother. His father has been in a concentration camp in China since 2017 and from that moment on Ahmedjan has had no contact with his family. Ahmedjan studies law at the University of Utrecht and is also active in local politics in Ede. Since 2020, he has been committed to the Uyghur issue in the Netherlands.
